Ultimate Bacon Cheeseburger Melt Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Patty:
1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
For the Bacon and Onions:
6 slices of thick-cut bacon
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 tbsp butter
1 tsp sugar
For the Bread:
4 slices of thick-cut bread (e.g., Texas toast or brioche)
2 tbsp butter (softened)
For the Cheese Sauce:
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 cup whole milk
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 tsp Dijon mustard
½ tsp paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Assembly:
4 slices of cheddar cheese
1 tbsp mayonnaise (optional)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Patty:
In a bowl, combine the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
Shape the mixture into two large patties, slightly larger than the bread slices.
Heat a skillet or griddle to medium-high heat and cook the patties for 3–4 minutes on each side until they are seared and cooked to your desired doneness.
2. Cook the Bacon and Onions:
In the same skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.
Drain excess bacon grease, leaving about 1 tbsp in the skillet. Add butter and sliced onions.
Sprinkle with sugar and cook on medium-low heat until onions are caramelized (about 15 minutes).
3. Make the Cheese Sauce:
In a small saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to create a roux.
Gradually whisk in the milk and cook until thickened.
Add shredded cheese, Dijon mustard, paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy.
4. Toast the Bread:
Butter one side of each bread slice.
Toast the bread slices on a griddle or skillet, buttered side down, until golden brown.
5. Assemble the Melt:
Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise (optional) on the untoasted side of the bread.
Layer the burger patty, bacon, caramelized onions, a slice of cheddar cheese, and a generous drizzle of cheese sauce between two slices of bread.
Press lightly and toast the assembled melt in the skillet until the cheese melts and the sandwich is heated through.
