#### Ingredients

For the Chocolate Cake:
– 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
– 1 3/4 cups (350g) granulated sugar
– 3/4 cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
– 2 tsp baking powder
– 1 tsp baking soda
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
– 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
– 2 large eggs (room temperature)
– 2 tsp vanilla extract
– 1 cup (240ml) boiling water

For the Chocolate Fudge Frosting:
– 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
– 3 1/2 cups (450g) powdered sugar
– 3/4 cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
– 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
– 2 tsp vanilla extract
– A pinch of salt

For the Decoration:
– 1 cup (150g) chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
– Optional: chocolate curls or shavings



### Instructions

#### 1. Prepare the Cake Layers
– Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch round cake pans with parchment paper.
– In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
– Add milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
– Gradually pour in the boiling water while stirring (the batter will be thin, which ensures a moist cake).
– Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
– Bake for 28-32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
– Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

#### 2. Make the Chocolate Fudge Frosting
– In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy (about 2 minutes).
– Gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder, beating until well combined.
– Pour in heavy cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Continue beating until smooth and fluffy.

#### 3. Assemble the Cake
– Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread a thick layer of chocolate fudge frosting over it.
– Repeat with the second and third layers, frosting each evenly.
– Cover the entire cake with the remaining frosting, smoothing the sides and top.

#### 4. Decorate and Serve
– Pipe swirls of frosting on top using a star nozzle.
– Sprinkle chocolate chips over the top and gently press some onto the sides.
– Let the cake set for 15-20 minutes before slicing.
