Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sausage and Fettuccine

Creamy Garlic Parmesan Sausage and Fettuccine

Ingredients:

1 lb fettuccine pasta
1 lb Italian sausage (mild or spicy), casings removed
3 tablespoons butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Directions:

Cook the Pasta: Prepare the fettuccine according to package instructions. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked (7-8 minutes). Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Make the Sauce Base: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.
Build the Creamy Sauce: Stir in the heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Let the sauce simmer gently for 3-4 minutes to thicken slightly.
Incorporate Parmesan: Reduce the heat to low and stir in the Parmesan cheese, allowing it to melt and create a smooth sauce.
Combine Everything: Add the cooked sausage back into the skillet and toss in the fettuccine. Stir until the pasta and sausage are well coated in the sauce. If the sauce feels too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is achieved.
Serve and Garnish: Top with fresh parsley and extra Parmesan cheese if desired. Serve immediately for the best experience!
