Chocolate Pound Cake recipe
Ingredients
For the Cake:
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
2 cups granulated sugar
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
For the Chocolate Frosting:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3 cups powdered sugar
½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ cup heavy cream (more if needed)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Making the Cake:
Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a Bundt pan.
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with buttermilk.
Mix until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
Pour the batter into the prepared Bundt pan and smooth the top.
Bake for 60–70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Making the Frosting:
Beat butter until creamy, then add cocoa powder and powdered sugar.
Gradually add heavy cream and vanilla extract, beating until smooth and fluffy.
Spread generously over the cooled cake with swirls for a decorative finish.
