Good Ole Fashion Mac and Cheese
A timeless comfort dish, this rich and creamy mac and cheese is packed with cheesy goodness and baked to golden perfection. Perfect for family dinners or whenever you need a warm, satisfying bite!
Ingredients:
1 lb elbow macaroni
4 tbsp unsalted butter
¼ cup all-purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp garlic powder
3 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup panko breadcrumbs (optional, for topping)
Instructions:
Cook the Pasta:
Boil the elbow macaroni in salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make the Cheese Sauce:
In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden and bubbly. Slowly whisk in the milk and heavy cream, stirring constantly until smooth. Add salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder.
Add the Cheese:
Lower the heat and gradually stir in the cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses. Stir until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is thick and creamy.
Combine & Bake (Optional):
Mix the cooked pasta into the cheese sauce, coating every piece. If baking, transfer to a greased baking dish, sprinkle with panko breadcrumbs, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
