Black Forest Cake, packed with chocolate and cherries
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
1 jar morello cherries
2 cups heavy whipping cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
Dark chocolate shavings for garnish
Directions:
First things first, preheat that oven to 350°F (175°C). Don’t forget to grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans so your cake can come out easily!
In a large mixing bowl, combine your all-purpose flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix it up until well combined.
Now, add in the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Beat everything together on medium speed for about 2 minutes. Keep an eye on it – the batter will get smooth and creamy!
Here comes the fun part: carefully stir in the boiling water. Don’t worry if the batter looks a little thin; that’s exactly how it should be. Pour it evenly into those prepared pans.
Pop them in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the center. Patience is key! After baking, let them cool for about 10 minutes before transferring from the pans.
Once they’re cooled down, slice each cake in half horizontally to create fluffy layers of goodness.
Plate your first layer and slather on a generous amount of whipped cream and those luscious cherries. It’s time to build those layers!
Repeat the process with the second layer, and then top it all with the final cake layer. Now, decorate it with more whipped cream, cherries, and sprinkle those dark chocolate shavings on top for that extra wow factor.
Slice, Serve and Enjoy
