Classic Homemade Baked Mac and Cheese .
Ingredients:
16 oz elbow macaroni
4 tbsp unsalted butter
4 tbsp all-purpose flour
3 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp garlic powder
3 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
1 cup panko breadcrumbs
2 tbsp melted butter
1/2 tsp dried parsley (optional)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Cook the macaroni according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk constantly for 1-2 minutes until golden and bubbly.
Gradually add the milk and heavy cream, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the mixture thickens.
Stir in salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
Remove from heat and add sharp cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese. Stir until smooth and fully melted.
Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix until evenly coated.
Pour the mac and cheese into the prepared baking dish.
In a small bowl, mix panko breadcrumbs with melted butter and dried parsley. Sprinkle over the mac and cheese.
Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Let cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
