Baked Fettuccine Pasta with Sausage and Mozzarella
Ingredients:
12 oz fettuccine pasta
1 lb Italian sausage, casing removed
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon dried basil
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
Cook the fettuccine pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat, breaking it into crumbles, until browned and fully cooked. Remove excess grease if necessary.
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the sausage. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the onion is softened and fragrant.
Stir in the tomato sauce, heavy cream, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
Combine the cooked fettuccine with the sausage and sauce mixture, tossing to coat the pasta evenly.
Pour the pasta mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
