Baked Mac and Cheese Recipe
Ingredients:
8 oz (225g) elbow macaroni
2 cups (480ml) whole milk
2 cups (240g) shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup (30g) grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup (30g) unsalted butter
1/4 cup (30g) all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp paprika (optional)
1/2 cup (60g) breadcrumbs (for topping)
Instructions:
Cook the Pasta:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cook the elbow macaroni according to the package instructions.
Drain and set aside.
Make the Cheese Sauce:
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 2 minutes to create a roux. Slowly add the milk, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, Parmesan, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth.
Combine Pasta and Sauce:
Mix the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, ensuring all the pasta is well coated.
Bake the Mac and Cheese:
Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle breadcrumbs evenly over the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the top is golden and crispy.
Serve and Enjoy:
Let the macaroni and cheese cool for a few minutes before serving.
Enjoy!
