  • 2 large white onions
  • 3 slices mozzarella cheese

Instructions (Construction)

  1. Prepare the Onion Rings
    • Peel and slice onions into ½-inch (1 cm) thick rings.
    • Separate the rings and match smaller rings inside larger ones.
  2. Stuff with Mozzarella
    • Slice mozzarella into 4 even strips.
    • Fill the gap between onion rings with mozzarella strips. Use two layers of cheese for extra cheesiness.
    • Repeat for all rings and freeze for 1 hour to firm up.
  3. Coating Process
    • Set up three bowls: flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
    • Dip each onion ring in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs.
    • Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating for a double layer.
    • Freeze coated rings for at least 30 minutes to prevent cheese from leaking during frying.
  4. Frying
    • Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C).
    • Fry the rings until golden brown (about 2-3 minutes per side).
    • Drain on paper towels.
