Deep-Fried Bacon Cheeseburger Corn Dogs
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
6 slices cooked bacon, crumbled
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon mustard powder
6 hot dog buns, cut into halves (for the corn dog base)
1 ½ cups cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1 ½ cups buttermilk
Vegetable oil, for frying
Ketchup and mustard, for serving
Instructions:
Start by shaping the ground beef into small burger patties. Sprinkle them with onion powder, garlic powder, mustard powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Grill or pan-cook them for 3-4 minutes on each side, until they’re cooked through.
Once the patties are done, place a piece of cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon on top of each one. Let the cheese melt slightly.
For the batter, whisk together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, egg, and buttermilk to form a thick batter.
Heat up the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F. While the oil heats, skewer each cheeseburger patty onto the cut ends of the hot dog buns.
Dip each loaded cheeseburger skewer into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated, then carefully lower it into the hot oil. Fry for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Drain on paper towels and serve with ketchup and mustard. These deep-fried bacon cheeseburger corn dogs are a game-changer!
