Luxurious Black Forest Cake
Ingredients:
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
2 cups cherry pie filling
1 cup heavy cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chocolate chipsDirections:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round pans.
In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes. Stir in boiling water (batter will be thin).
Pour batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes; remove from pans to wire racks and cool completely.
Once cakes are cooled, cut each cake layer in half horizontally to create four layers.
In a medium bowl, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
Place one cake layer on a serving plate. Spread with 1/2 cup cherry pie filling. Repeat with remaining layers.
Frost top and sides of cake with whipped cream. Garnish with chocolate chips and additional cherries if desired.
