Baked French Toast
Ingredients
1 loaf French or challah bread, cut into thick slices
6 large eggs
1 ½ cups milk
½ cup heavy cream
½ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
Maple syrup (for serving)
Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
1️⃣ Prep the Dish
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Arrange bread slices in the dish, slightly overlapping.
2️⃣ Make the Custard
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
Pour the mixture evenly over the bread, pressing lightly so it soaks in.
3️⃣ Bake Until Golden
Drizzle melted butter over the top.
Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Remove foil and bake for 15-20 more minutes until golden brown.
4️⃣ Serve & Enjoy
Let cool for a few minutes.
Serve warm with maple syrup and powdered sugar.
